Andrew Garfield, like us, watched the first Spiderman homecoming trailer and absolutely loved it!
Garfield, who starred in two amazing Spiderman movies which grossed over $700 million at the global box office and was scheduled to act a third, which was titled ‘Sinister Six’, lost the role when Sony decided to partner up with Marvel Studios so that the Spiderman Character can be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Both companies decided to start the Spidey franchise anew and cast Tom Holland to fill the role instead of Andrew Garfield. Tom Holland first appeared in Captain America: Civil War, and was in Team Iron Man, and then in the post-credits scene of the same movie.
Garfield expressed his excitement after watching the first trailer and wished Tom Holland the best in his role as the web crawler
“I watched it!” Garfield exclaimed to ET at the Critics’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, where he won Best Actor in an Action Film for Mel Gibson’s biographical World War II drama Hacksaw Ridge. “It’s great! I think it looks great. I’m really excited to see it, I can’t wait. I’m a big fan of Tom and that character, so I’m just really excited to see it.
Andrew Garfield also landed a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor for Hacksaw Ridge.
Spiderman Homecoming is scheduled for release on July 7, 2017, and will feature Vulture (Michael Keaton). Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jnr) will also have a supporting role in the movie.
